HORSETHIEF BUTTE

Horsethief Butte is a basalt fortress located in the Columbia River Gorge about 90 miles east of Portland.  Scenic views of the gorge and Mt. Hood abound.  It is the perfect place for setting up top-roped one pitch climbs.  A popular beginning climbing instruction location, it is also an enjoyable site to pick out a likely route, put in a anchor, and just climb.

Our day trip to Horsethief is a fun opportunity to review basic skills as appropriate and to spend the day climbing whatever routes strike your fancy.
