Columbia River Gorge

The Columbia River Gorge is a treasure of North America. For hundreds of years it has been home to Native American tribes who value it both for the salmon and its beauty. The gorge is now protected by the Federal government as the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
The Gorge was formed by volcanic basalt flows 13-14 million years ago then gouged out by the Missoula Floods 12-14,000 years ago. These spectacular geologic events have created an area that is dense with waterfalls, awe inspring beauty and the best hiking to be found anywhere. Oregon Peak Adventures guides know the best trails and sights in the gorge and will be delighted to share these with you.
Gorge Hikes Oregon peak Adventures is permitted to guide hikes on most of the trails in the Gorge. We can take you on hikes ranging from a half-day or full-day moderate waterfall tours, to full-day strenuous conditioning hikes. Regardless of the exertion level, the scenery is always stunning and we are delighted to share our knowledge and perspectives on this unique area.
