Dudh Kund – Sacred Milk Lake Trek
Dudh Kund – Sacred Milk Lake Trek in Nepal, March 2010

Trek to Dudh Kund – a Sacred Milk Lake, in the Solu region of Nepal on the front range of the Himalas south of Mount Everest region. This trip will take trekkers by plane to Phaplu field, then on an 10-12 day jaunt through the beautiful Sherpa villages and monasteries of Solu, including Phaplu, Ringmo, Taksindu, then up into high yak pastures to the sacred Dudh Kund (‘Milk Lake’) directly under the sheer south wall of Numbur Himal.
From there, we will trek across some high passes and pasture lands and down into the beautiful valley of Junbesi (‘Valley of the Moon’), with a visit to nearby to the stunningly beautiful Thubten Choling Buddhist Monastery. From there it is an easy half day walk back to Phaplu and the short flight back to Kathmandu.
For anyone interested in doing both the Nepal trek and the overland Tibet trip, we can link up directly after the trek by flying to Lhasa to meet the rest of the overland tour group.

It is a good way to ‘come down’ after the higher altitude adventures. We’ll stay in a comfortable jungle lodge, relax, ride elephants, take nature walks, and see exotic birds and wildlife—rhinos, deer, monkeys, and tiger if we are lucky!
