Beginning Rock Climbing Camp

This class is designed to establish basic best practices and techniques for the young rock climber. (Age 12-20).  The following topics are covered:

This two day course is conducted at Horse Thief Butte State Park in Washington in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge.  Youth Climbers will camp overnight at nearby Columbia Hills Camping Park.  Our group leaders and instructors are experienced climbers and youth leaders/educators.  They both enjoy and understand how to work with young people and will provide individual attention to each climber.  There will be a minimum of one instructor to every three students.  All students will be top-roped when engaged in off the ground climbing activities.
Oregon Peak Adventures will provide instructors, round trip transportation from the Portland, Oregon area, permits, group climbing equipment, individual climbing equipment (helmets, harness and  hardware), and tents.  Participants should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, day packs and warm clothing.  Rock climbing shoes are not required for this introductory session.
