We can do this anytime , given availability of guides and
permits. Maximum group size is four persons (three clients and one
guide). We can do day hikes and trips of two to four days. On
overnight trips we provide transportation from the Portland area, guide, meals,
and tents.

St. Helens and Spirit Lake
Four Day Loop Backpack
This trip is appropriate for backpackers in reasonable shape. We
hike 35 miles in four days through the blowdown zone north of Mt. St.
Helens. Closed to camping after the eruption in 1980 until 1999, this is a
unique area of the world. Pristine lakes, streams, waterfalls, and blowdown -
there's no other place like it. This the only area open for camping in the
blowdown
zone within the National Volcanic Monument.
Access to the area is strictly limited with the party size limited to
four - your guide and three clients. You may not see anyone else once we leave the
trailhead. Experience the effects of the blast of the 1980 eruption and witness the
regeneration of life in this unforgettable trip.

strong children. We hike in 6 miles to Panhandle Lake and camp for
two nights. We are in the blowdown zone north of Mt. St.
Helens. Closed to camping after the eruption in 1980 until 1999, this is a

there's no other place like it. This the only area open for camping in the blowdown

Panhandle lake is full of eating size cutthroat trout.
This makes for a great family experience.
