This one-day course expands on the skills covered in the one-day Alpine Mountaineering course.  We normally do this training on Mt. Hood.  This will prepare you to choose optimum routes on a glacier climb; how to stay out of crevasses; and, failing that, how to get out of a crevasse.  We also cover how to rig a sled and rope-up for expedition style travel on glaciers.  Topics and skills covered include:

bullet Glaciers and how to read them
bullet Roped travel on glaciers
bullet Rigging sleds
bullet Crevasse rescue techniques
bullet Pulley Systems

Price includes transportation from the Portland area to Mt. Hood, textbook and course materials, prusiks, ice ax, crampons, and group climbing gear.

We can conduct a session any time an instructor is available and snow conditions are suitable.
