Introduction to Traditional
Rock Climbing

Introduction to Traditional Rock Climbing
focuses on climbing outside on real rock. The course covers knots, rock
climbing equipment, belaying, rappelling, and movement on rock. A
classroom session ( when available) provides a comprehensive overview and we have two field
sessions.
Our first session at Rocky Butte Park in
Portland gives us a chance for hands-on practice for all of our skills.
The next day we head out to Horse Thief Butte
in the Scenic Columbia River Gorge
for a day of one pitch climbing on solid basalt. Includes instructors, transportation
to Horse Thief Butte, and climbing equipment.
While we
usually hold this class through Portland Community College and Tualatin Hills
Park & Recreation District, we can also conduct
rock climbing classes for individuals or groups.
Price: 1 person - $700, 2-3 persons - $350
each, 3-6
persons - $250 each. Includes lead and assistant guides, door-to-door transportation
from the Portland area, and
individual and group rock climbing equipment.
