SADDLE MOUNTAIN
This delightful hike offers a variety of terrain and spectacular views of the Cascade volcanoes and the Pacific Ocean. We start off in a lovely forested area with many wildflowers in season. As we work our way up there many conditioning opportunities as well as great view points of the mountain and the surrounding countryside. As we get closer to the summit, we go through open meadows, traverse across an airy saddle and finish with a steep climb to the enclosed summit viewpoint.
As we descend, we can focus on the intriguing terrain and the endless ridges stretching in all directions.
Saddle Mountain was formed by uplifted basalt which
flowed down the Columbia River Gorge from Eastern Washington.
You'll want to wear sturdy boots, and carry a backpack with rain/wind gear, warm clothes, and 2 quarts of water. Scheduled Hike - June 13, 2008 Please let us know when you would like to go.
